Rah-e-Amal, a non-profit organization formally registered in 2019, in the memory of Amal Umer, a 10 year old child, who was hit by a police bullet while sitting in the back seat of her car. When taken to the hospital nearby she was denied treatment. In the 40 minutes that Amal struggled to stay alive, her family went through the ordeal of trying to arrange an ambulance to transfer her and to find a hospital willing to accept her and provide the immediate care she needed. As a consequence of her injury and lack of essential emergency care, Amal breathed her last and lost her battle with life. This happened the night of 13th August 2018 as the entire nation was out on the roads celebrating the eve of Independence Day in Pakistan, oblivious to the senseless negligence by the police and the denial of treatment by the hospital.

Rah-e-Amal is the heartfelt response of Amal’s parents, Beenish and Umer Adil, who are committed to ensuring that  Amal’s life was not lost in vain and that others in need of immediate emergency and post trauma medical treatment do not suffer at the hands of a broken and disconnected system the way Amal did. Beenish and Umer are using Rah-e-Amal as a platform to join hands with people who share their commitment to bringing about much needed change: the provision of quality frontline emergency trauma care services and immediate, empathetic medical care to all those in need.
